Kilimanjaro International Airport,

Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa’s highest peak and the world’s tallest freestanding mountain at 5,895 m
(19.340feet). Crowned with an everlasting snow-cap, this majestic mountain can certainly seem imposing
but not out of reach. We offer 3 different routes to suit every trekkers experience and fitness levels. You
can do it for the challenge, for the unique scenery, for the feeling of success, for the adrenaline and
accomplishments, but the sure thing is your life will change after you’ve dominated the highest free
standing mountain on Earth.

“KILIMANJARO LEMOSHO ROUTE”

The Lemosho Route is widely considered to be the best route on Mount Kilimanjaro. It’s a relatively new
route, and preferred by reputable operators due to the beauty and remoteness of its different climate
zones, the smooth acclimatization and high success rate. In short, it maximizes the chances that a
climber will reach the summit, and enjoy the experience overall. We would recommend it to physically
fit people with some hiking experience.

Itinerary

Hiking duration: 6 to 7 hours

We will pick you up at your hotel around 9:00am to deliver a short climbing info briefing after which you will travel by vehicle (roughly 3 to 4 hours) to Kilimanjaro National Park’s western entrance: Londorossi Gate (2,200 m). Once the necessary formalities are completed, you will continue upwards towards the drop off point by vehicles (reaching 3,500 meters). The route from your drop off point to your first highaltitude camp Shira 1 features a small gain in altitude and is not too physically challenging. Due to this, you will be able to properly begin the process of acclimatization. Dinner and overnight at Shira 1 Camp.

CAMP
– Shira 1 Camp

Hiking duration: 5 to 6 hours

After breakfast, departing from Shira 1 Camp (3,505 m) and a light trekking towards the second-high altitude camp: Shira 2 Camp (3,900 m). This trek is not difficult and you will be able to enjoy spectacular views of Africa and the unique flora of Kilimanjaro and the surrounding area. When you arrive to camp you will have lunch, and after a two-hour rest everyone will complete an acclimatization hike towards Lava Tower Camp that features a 200-meter gain in altitude. Dinner and overnight at Shira 2 Camp.

CAMP
– Shira 2 Camp

Hiking duration: 6 to 7 hours

After breakfast you will start your way to the key point of the route: Lava Tower (4,630 m). This section of the route has a lot of ascents and descents that end in a camp at over 4,600 meters. It might be difficult, and you may feel some discomfort, but in order to successfully acclimate to the altitude you have to spend at least 1-2 hours here, so this is where lunch will be. Then you will descend to Barranco Camp (3,960 m) where you will rest, enjoy dinner, and overnight.

CAMP
– Baranco Camp

Hiking duration: 4 to 5 hours

Early wakeup, breakfast and the start of summiting Barranco Wall (we recommend you leave the camp as early as possible to avoid crowds of the other groups). Hiking up the gorge wall is not difficult and
only takes around an hour. After this starts a more difficult hike to Karanga Camp (4.035m) where you will be rewarded with a warm lunch, relaxation time, dinner and overnight.

CAMP
– Karanga Camp

Hiking duration: 3 to 4 hours

After breakfast you will start your way to Barafu Camp (4,640 m) where you will be able to admire the fantastic views of two volcanos at once: Kibo and Mawenzi. After lunch we suggest you to spend the
remainder of the day resting and sleeping before night summiting.

CAMP
– Barafu Camp

Hiking duration: 10 to 12 hours

Your guide will wake you up before midnight for tea and biscuits to begin the summit attempt. You will reach Uhuru peak (5,895 m) on time for the best sunrise you will probably ever experienced in your life time. After your successful ascent to Uhuru Peak, you can descend to the nearest glacier if desired. Then you will return to Barafu Camp and after a two-hour rest continue your descent to Mweka Camp
(3,080 m) for a well-deserved relaxation time, dinner and overnight.

CAMP
– Mweka Camp

Hiking duration: 4 to 5 hours

You will be offered a warm breakfast in the morning, after which we will head back to Kilimanjaro National Park’s exit: Mweka Gate (1,650 m) where the whole group will gather to congratulate. Lastly, we
will present you with your commemorative certificates and provide you a transfer back to your accommodation in Arusha.
