This three-day chimpanzee safari takes you to the Nyungwe rainforest in southwest Rwanda. It borders Birundi to the south and Lake Kivu and the DR Congo to the west. Nyungwe is probably the best-preserved rainforest in the mountains of Central Africa. It is located in the watershed between river Congo basin to the west and the Nile river basin to the east.

Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest
After breakfast you board you’ safari vehicle to Nyungwe Forest. You will eat lunch along the way and stop to visit some of the genocide memorials. Reaching Nyungwe in the late evening, Upon arrival you will check in at the Nyungwe Top View Lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe Forest
Have breakfast and then make your way to the park offices for a briefing on the primates and the forest. You will then enter the tropical rain forest in search of the shy chimpanzees in the tree branches. While on this walk you may also see mangabeys, Columbus, vervet and red-tailed monkeys. Return to lodge for lunch and then take an evening canopy walk looking for primates and birds. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at previous Lodge
Day 3: Transfer Back to Kigali/ Hotels
Have breakfast and then make your way back to Kigali, eating lunch en-route. You will also visit the Cathedral of Kabgayi, the ancient King’s palace at Nyanza and the National Museum at Huye. Later you will meet a local women’s drumming group to hear about their history. You will then make your way to the airport for your return flight home.
